B-10 Review
B-10 : Saturday 22nd May 2010.
Our happy band of reprobates and hardcore gamers came together for another day of battle, competition and mindless fun. With the temperature so high, there were some concerns about the health of the PCs and their owners, but with windows open and the strategic use of fans… The day began in earnest. .
First up:
Unreal Tournament 3
First up, another action packed, highly aggressive start to the day saw our players frag it out in multiple rounds of insane free for all and team fun. With our reigning champion away at a Pendulum concert this opened the field up to other players. One round causing the surprise of the day when The Gimp managed to top the leader board using “Dark Side Tactics” and spider mines. But in the end it wasn’t enough to stop the 2009/10 player of the year winning the tournament.

Grid Racedriver
Unlike the Monaco Grand Prix, this was never going to be a high speed parade. The return of The Gimp to the track, after his lifetime ban was rescinded, proved to be the disaster we expected, with numerous major pileups caused by our hapless driver. But in the end one of the flowerpot men who managed to take the top spot overall and a debutant taking 3rd place.

3rd Place: Luckydice
Call of Duty 4
Heads down, safeties off and our extremely hot weekend players dived into the ever popular COD4. Free for all rounds, provided all round frantic fun, but it was search and destroy where our gamers shone. Our reigning champion, Ollie, won again with another debutant Bushmeat coming in 3rd. Much to his surprise.

This was always going to be about settling grudges from B-9. With pride, bragging rights and the trophy at stake it was clear from the start there wasn’t going to be any marquis of queensbury rules here. This was a no holds barred slugfest, which saw last times 3rd ranked player knocked out in the 1st round… as before the top 2 stayed the same, with the ever popular The Gimp taking 3rd place and in doing so, blowing his chances of the wooden spoon.

Command & conquer Generals: Zero Hour
Once again our happy band of warriors promoted themselves to commanders and waged war across a virtual landscape. Nick_B trying desperately to keep Rob’s forces at bay but with the onslaught of Overlord vehicles he was left at Rob’s mercy. Again the debutant Luckydice got into the day’s top 3.

Fifa 10
Our 1st Series of mini-tournaments was in honour of the upcoming World Cup, with our would be sporting heroes playing for the honour of a randomly chosen country. With tirades of abuse being sounded at the virtual referee and linesmen these became gruelling and frenetic matches which were won by the teams making the fewest mistakes (or in the case of our champions, sheer fluke)
The highlight of the contest was the final, between the worst team of the day and the best team of the day…and in true B-Series tradition the underdogs took the prize and raised the trophy….
1st Place: Nick_B & Wax(Brazil)
2nd Place: Munsen & gftci(Portugal
3rd Place: Rob & Lew(Spain)
COD Modern Warfare Xbox 360
Our first Xbox COD4 tournament got underway with frags a plenty and more head shots then a 70`s porno. Craigyboi led the way with the first kill of the tournament but was soon put down by Lewis and that seemed to be the order of the day with a battle royal commencing between the two players lasting the full 10 rounds. Jax Pavin decided to play the role of cannon fodder and obliged by getting killed no less then 250 times over the COD4 tournament.

3rd Place: Jax pavin
Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360
It was business as usual in Modern Warfare 2 with Lewis taking an early lead by winning the first two rounds comfortably, Craigyboi came back at him by winning the next two and making some spectacular long distance kills but Lewis proved too strong on the day and took not only the Modern Warfare 2 win but also won the overall Xbox 360 Tournament.

And then, the final official tournament of the night pitted our champions against each other in the violent and idiotic world which is PAIN. A “one shot, do as much damage as possible” play off with our tournament champions showed, once again, that sheer luck can win the day and the overall prize.
