9th November 2009
After a full English breakfast to start the day, combat began:-
Unreal Tournament III
During some intense battles using Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag & Greed there was one outright winner who trounced the opposition with skill, finesse and a hell of a lot of violence, not to mention the odd lucky head shot.
Winner: Vasquez (B-7 UT3 Champion)
Grid
With tyres squealing and cars burning (due to unfortunate collisions with walls, barriers and other cars) every race was won by our new B-Series driving champion.
Winner: Ben (B-7 Grid Champion)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Again, extreme prejudice was order of the day, with Free for All and Team Deathmatch keeping the end scores extremely close. With bullets flying through the air and bodies laying in heaps on the ground our reigning COD4 champion held his title for the 3rd event running.
Winner: Olly (B-7 COD4 Champion)
Command & Conquer: Zero Hour
This became a battle of wits in multiple battles.
Battle 1: Big_lew Vs BOFH1971 - Using rush tactics Big_lew scored an easy victory and destroyed BOFH1971 forces in a matter of minutes.
Battle 2: Rob Vs Wax - Wax's strategy of playing with a similar faction to Rob failed resulting in him losing the round.
Battle 3: Olly Vs Ben - With a production line of vehicles, and slightly better tactics Olly slaughtered Ben.
Final Battle: Rob Vs Big_lew Vs Olly
With a 10 minute rush ban in place Big_lew seemed to be getting pummelled from both sides but a fortunate scud storm into Olly's base saw Olly being defeated first. Attention turned to the two remaining players, but Big_lew's initial two pronged assault meant that with diminishing forces he had no choice but to await his troops inevitable death from Rob's constant onslaught.
Winner: Rob (B-7 C&C Champion)
Champions Tournament - Pain Bowling
Round One: Wax Vs Ben
Due to our UT3 Champion having other evening arrangements the 2nd place player (Wax) was substituted in a very close final which came down to the last frame and an unfortunate incident with a falling girder.
Round Two: Ollie Vs Rob
The most one sided, bowling game in history, with Rob taking and then extending his lead frame upon frame, a brief fight back at the end from Olly was not enough to stop the B-Series debutant from getting through to the Grand Final.
Final: Wax Vs Rob
Until frame 5 this was close, but with masterful use of flying monkeys, exploding grannies and giant MAN-HOLE covers, plus Rob's inane ability to throw his character into drains, the UT3 substitute managed to overpower the debutant in the end.
B-7 Tournament Champion: Wax
Outside of the tournaments the biggest hits of the day were The Haunted (UT3 Mod), Tekken 5 and COD4 (Lego COD4)
With The Haunted players on the human team worked together and held back hordes of zombie like creatures. Players on the opposing side had the fun (but evil) task of raising the dead in an attempt to corner the puny humans and annihilate them. It's safe to say that if this was real life we'd have all been dead in a few minutes!!
Lego COD4 saw our players running around a brightly colour land built out of the famous Scandinavian children's toy. A mixture of high explosives and plastic pieces became amusing and extremely satisfying.
Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection saw the 1st inclusion of a console game into the B-Series. Due to it being shown on the projector, derisory shouts were cast as players were beaten and cheers of joy for the victors. The cheer of the day went to a young female gamer who, while using a giant panda, managed to win a fight against a current professional (although hung-over) gamer.
