The lights were dimmed, the gamers sat, the safety catches were released and…

Straight into the UT3 Tournament.

With missiles and flack rounds destroying everything in sight it became an epic battle for survival. Over the course of 5 rounds it became clear that an there would not be an upset for our champion, but the fight for the 2nd and 3rd places were frantic. When the counts were tallied our reigning UT3 champion had done it again... Vasquez, took the title... with 2nd place going to Olly, but a surprise for our 3rd placed player BOFH.

1st: Vasquez
2nd: Olly
3rd: BOFH

Call of Duty 4 saw our weekend warrior slugging it out in Free for All and Team Deathmatch maps.
With the air thick with lead and various insults the kill count rose. As the smoke cleared and ammo ran dry the current reigning champion had been knocked from his top spot.

1st: Vasquez
2nd: Olly
3rd: Infex

Street Fighter 4 was a great tournament and players were challenged with remembering the moves from the original Street Fighter 2. BOFH was probably the most surprising player having beaten his opponents senseless with Dhalsim's flailing limbs. His skill was no match however for Wax who gladly tore him to pieces with Ryu. His tactics of throwing fireballs from the edge of the screen where Dhalsim cannot reach made him the victor.
The final match between Munsen (Ken) and Wax (Ryu) was just practice for a fireball fight. Both opponents peppered each other with nearly endless Hadoukens. Wax just managed to gain the advantage and beat Munsen with the old school 2 hit combo of a flying kick and a low sweep.

1st: Wax
2nd: Munsen
3rd: BOFH

Grid started off with 5 players ready for some fun fast action. As expected Munsen immediately took the lead, leaving the rest to battle it out. BigL3w decided it would be fun to take out as many people possible but luckily he only managed to wreck himself leaving the players to catch up with the race leader. James F and Dean suffered minimal damage but ended there chances at the final bends of the track.
Munsen went on to win the 1st 3 races, with BOFH coming in 2nd and Nasty_nick in 3rd. James F 4th, Dean 5th, Bigl3w and the others surprisingly didn’t finish. The final race came and again Munsen took the lead, BOFH spent most of the race trying to rectify an early mistake then fending off the wild driving of BigL3w. Nasty_nick managed to catch Munsen and was hot on his heels. In the final bend of the final race Munsen cracked under the pressure and crashed, leaving Nasty_nick to win the race!

1st: Munsen
2nd: BOFH
3rd: Nasty_nick

Zero Hour threw players into a 1v1 knockout tournament with the winner of each match proceeding onto the next round. The highlight of the tournament was James vs BOFH who were locked into battle over the Alpine Assault map. Both players were of a similar skill level and were sending forces across the terrain but met their doom upon encountering the opposing team's defense. Just before the 1 hour time limit was up James managed to destroy BOFH's base and conquer the map!

The finals saw Rob vs Dean vs James battle it out. There seemed to be no competition and an ever confident Rob, before the match began, stated "It'll be over in no time". James was the first to be knocked out of the competition followed by Dean. Rob successfully defended his title of the C&C: Zero Hour Champion!

1st: Rob
2nd: Dean
3rd: James

And so the Championship knock out rounds began PAIN: Bowling being used to inflict as much damage as possible onto the players avatars. Due to other commitments some of out champions had to leave early, so the BOFH and Infex were promoted into the Champions Tournament. First semi-final was a 3-way battle between BOFH, Infex and Munsen. With aggressive use of exploding OAPs, flying monkeys and a particularly lucky mime round, Munsen powered his way into the finals.
Second semi-final was between Rob and Wax… This extremely one-sided competition saw Rob take a early lead and even though Wax had managed to master the art of dodging attacks, he couldn’t compete with the sheer un-nerving good fortune which allowed Rob to get strikes and spares.
And to the championship final Munsen Vs Rob. This time PAIN: Fun with Explosives, was brought in to cause much amusement to the watching crowd. With virtual bodies flailing and cunning tactics displayed, this extremely close game was decided in the final round and by only 2 exploding crates.

Championship winner... and Rock Band virtuoso... Rob...

The prizes on offer were either 2x2gb sticks of Crucial Ballistix memory or a Razer Soandso mouse. The tournament champion had first choice on a prize and opted for the Crucial memory. Good on him! No doubt that will speed up his PC and make his game even better. Oh, no… In second place was Ben aka Munsen who received the Razer mouse.

The top 3 players of the individual tournaments all received a certificate and the winner of each tournament received an engraved trophy, a set of exclusive B-Series dog tags and a 2gb pen drive (courtesy of Novatech). Novatech t-shirts, stress balls, squeezy pigs toys, sticky notes and pens were also given as consolation prizes to 2nd and 3rd place gamers.
